Bury St. Edmunds Literature Festival

Hannah will read from and talk about her three books. THE LAST BEAR (Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year, Blue Peter Book Award for Best Story 2022) is the story of 11-year-old April, who travels to a remote Arctic outpost with her scientist father. The island is called Bear Island even though there aren’t supposed to be any bears left. But one endless summer night, April meets one. He is starving, lonely and a long way from home. Determined to save him, April begins the most important journey of her life.

THE LOST WHALE is also inspired by Hannah’s love of animals and her fierce desire to protect our planet. It’s all about a boy called Rio who sets out to find a missing whale.

She will also read from and talk about her most recent book FINDING BEAR, the sequel to THE LAST BEAR, which sees April and Bear reunited alongside a dangerous quest to save Bear’s teeny tiny cub!

Being an author was a dream Hannah had ever since she was at primary school. It took her a long time to make that dream come true but sometimes that’s the case with things you really want. The secret is not giving up! Hannah will share her inspiring story and encourage the audience to follow their dreams. Everyone will leave this event knowing that no matter how small you may sometimes feel, you’re never too small to make a difference.

Suitable for children ages 4-13 accompanied by an adult.
